Last Friday was a public holiday in Malta and everybody headed to either beach or somewhere else in the nature. The day was pretty nice with 23 degrees and there was a lot of people even swimming in the sea. To be fair, only two days before was very cold and windy and for sure the water was not pleasant, but you know that feeling when you’re on holiday somewhere at the sea and you just need to dive in no matter what the weather is like. I belive they felt that way – swim while you can 😀
Anyways, we proceed a bit further, just behind the Ghadira bay where you can enter the nature park. To be more explicit how you can get there – you need to pass the second bus stop from Ghadira and on the third bus stop (Riserva) you jump off , walk just a bit further after the camp houses and on the left side you will see a gate to a park. And this is what it will look like if you go this way straight. >>>
On your left side you will see a field with wild flowers and sea behind it and on your right side it will be a road to Cerkawwa and Gozo ferries. Following this path and climbing up the stairs you will get to the Red tower – a historical monument.

That day we wanted a long walk, so we continued going more further and there is a path that you can go on even with a car. On the way we met some people camping, but I wouldn’t really recommend this in here because the space is completely open to the winds from all sides. Of course it depends of the day how strong the wind will be, but most of the time you will experience the wind that is not pleasant at all. Because of that I like to wear something on my head cause I can get a headache from it. And the most important – to protect my face from the sun. People often forget to apply face cream and to wear a hat or cap, especially if the day is cloudy. But please be smart, you will need some protection. You might not feel the sun due to a windy weather, but you can get burned which you will feel after, when you get back home and cool down. It can be dangerous, even in April and most for the people with pale skin and from some northern countries. I’ve seen so many tourist last week being burned from the sun and the weather was mostly about 18 – 20 degrees. So that would be my strong recommendation. And maybe to wear some sporty shoes / sneakers because the road is with rocks and stones, so you will save your feet. 😉 In any case, I hope you will enjoy your hike and have a nice day to remember! 😀
